Mr.Mohd Shamir Hashim

Senior Vice President,International and Government Engagement CyberSecurity Malaysia

Ts Mohd Shamir bin Hashim is currently the Senior Vice President of the International and Government Engagement of CyberSecurity Malaysia, the agency that monitors e-sovereignty of Malaysia. An engineer by training, he has more than 30 years of ICT working experience in the telecom and IT sectors.
Mohd Shamir holds a Masters Degree in Information Management (MSc) from the Faculty of Information Management, University Technology MARA, Malaysia. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, USA. In addition, Mohd Shamir is a certified Professional in Critical Infrastructure Protection (PCIP) from the Critical Infrastructure Institute, Canada, and an Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) of the DRI Institute. In recognition of his contribution in information security, he is a recipient of the Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA) 2010 from (ISC)2. Recently, he was also confer the Cybersecurity Leader of the Year 2022 by the Cybersecurity Innovation Series – Tunisia Chapter.
A senior management member of CyberSecurity Malaysia, Ts. Mohd Shamir is heavily involved in the national and international cybersecurity platforms such as serving as the Head of the Permanent Secretariat to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC- CERT) since 2009, Steering Committee Member of the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) since 2010 and currently sits as the Chair to APCERT on behalf of the agency. He represents CyberSecurity Malaysia as a member of the OIC Science and Technology Committee and Executive Committee Member of the Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions (ACMOI).
Nationally, Mohd Shamir is currently heading the membership committee of the Global Accredited Cyber Security Education or Global ACE Scheme and registered with the Malaysia Board of Technologist as Professional Technologist. Presently, he is very much involved with the ministries and government agencies to front CyberSecurity Malaysia in providing the necessary information required to keep the stakeholders updated on national cybersecurity matters. This includes supporting the government in implementing the Malaysia National Cyber Security Policy and the national committee for mitigating cybersecurity incidences. Internationally, he is highly involved in the establishment of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation - Computer Emergency Response team (OIC-CERT) and now plays an active role in the daily operation and administration of the organization. Regionally, he is active in representing Malaysia, through CyberSecurity Malaysia, in the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT). He maintains a well-deserved national and international reputation in his field where he had been invited as keynote speakers and panellist in various local and international conferences.
